Summary

Amends the:

Remuneration Tribunal Act 1973
to: determine a classification structure for departmental secretaries; enable the Remuneration Tribunal to determine the remuneration of the secretaries of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and the Treasury; enable these secretaries, in consultation with the President of the tribunal and the Public Service Commissioner, to determine the level of remuneration for all other departmental secretaries; and enable the tribunal to determine the remuneration and recreation leave entitlements of the Public Service Commissioner, Merit Protection Commissioner and heads of executive agencies;
Public Service Act 1999
and
Remuneration Tribunal Act 1973
to make consequential amendments; and
Parliamentary Contributory Superannuation Act 1948
,
Parliamentary Superannuation Act 2004
,
Remuneration and Allowances Act 1990
and
Remuneration Tribunal Act 1973
to: restore the tribunal’s ability to determine parliamentary base salary; require the tribunal to publish reasons for decisions relating to parliamentary remuneration; and remove the Parliament’s ability to disallow parliamentary remuneration determinations.
